The Shipping Rate Discrepancy Solver is a read-only review tool. It compares stored order information with a carrier quote you obtain separately. It does not fetch a live quote, buy labels, change shipping settings, or adjust an order’s charges.
Prepare Comparable Information
Have the order number, actual packed weight, package dimensions, origin ZIP, destination, carrier and service, and a manually obtained quote. Use a quote for the same package and service, with the relevant surcharges. Item weight alone can differ from packed shipment weight.
Review The Difference
- Open Shipping Rate Discrepancy Solver from the available WooCommerce or Commerce menu, or its link from an order.
- Look up the existing order by number or ID.
- Check the stored shipping charge, method, and product measurements against your packing information.
- Enter the manual quote and package information in the comparison controls.
- Run the analysis and read the highlighted differences. Check units before drawing a conclusion.
- Record the suspected cause and ask the responsible person to approve any separate correction.
Common causes include a weight entered in the wrong unit, incorrect package dimensions, different origin ZIPs, different services, and differences between retail and account rates. A warning is a prompt to investigate, not proof that a customer was charged incorrectly.
What Happens Next
Corrections to measurements, rates, services, handling fees, or orders are separate actions. Confirm actual packing practice and store policy first. Tax questions go to the store’s accounting adviser. Share redacted examples with support; keep customer addresses private.
